The Boston Higashi School is perhaps the preeminent residential School for Autistic students in the world. The Boston Higashi School is home to many of the most challenging individuals with Autism. While Autistic individuals can be very taxing in their care and behavior the policy at Boston Higashi is to treat each individual with love and mutual respect. The student body includes many Jewish Students. The Boston Higashi School was originally brought to the US by Arthur Golden, the Father of Ben Golden who was a student both in Japan and in the Boston area. Ben now lives in Jerusalem, Israel and is a published Author of Seforim. As part of its mutual respect policy the Boston Higashi School maintains a parallel meal service for it's special diet students. Jewish students are generally served meals that are designed to look identical to the normal meals but are specially prepared of Kosher ingredients (Glatt) and never mix dairy and meat. The School expends great effort and planning to accomplish this feat. The kitchen is visited daily by an Orthodox Rabbi, although the schedule is unpredictable and weekends visits are walk in visits. |
